The FIA Formula One World Championship has been one of the premier forms of racing around the world since its inaugural season in 1950. The Azerbaijan Grand Prix round of the F1 world tour was first introduced in 2017. With the ambitious goal of turning the historical downtown part of Baku into an F1 circuit, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix entered the list of FIA events and local teams were tasked with preparing the security infrastructure and solutions to be used by the F1 Race control team.
One of the key requirements of FIA Race control was to have a very low-latency video presented to them from the cars and race circuit. This was needed to coordinate the activities and efforts of security, medical and other personnel. The goal was to achieve close to 150-250 ms latency between live events and video shown in the race control’s control room.
The VENZO Secure Professional Services team implemented and configured Servers from Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Aruba Network and Milestone XProtect. The goal of low latency video, with a minimal amount of hops between camera, servers and the client workstations.
